In 1964 JM World Orchestra brought together outstanding young musicians in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, under the guidance of world-class conductors such as Nico Hermans and Frans Moonen for a full concert programme followed by an international tour. The JM World Orchestra is a historical program of Jeunesses Musicales International and it still represents a significant part of the history of the organisation, as well as the first international youth orchestra of its kind.
1964 is also the year when came to life the first project of a stable JM World Orchestra, proposed by G. Lefebvre.

Conductor

Nico Hermans ( 1919 – 1988 ) was a Dutch conductor and composer. He received his education at the Maastricht Music Lyceum , as well as at the one in Copenhagen. He was second conductor of the Maastricht City Orchestra in 1949 and 1950 , initially under Paul Hupperts. He is recognized for his work in orchestral and ensemble leadership, with activities that include concert direction, rehearsal preparation, and collaboration with instrumentalists and soloists across a varied repertoire. He has been involved in promoting structured musical interpretation and supporting artistic development within the ensembles he has worked with, contributing to both performance practice and musical organization.
Frans Moonen ( 1921 – 2002 ) was a Dutch choir conductor. He conducted the Toonkunst Choir Amsterdam and The Hague , leaving the latter in 1979.
