1988

Stockholm, Arvika, Oslo, Amsterdam, etc.

In 1988 JM World Orchestra brought together outstanding young musicians in Stockholm and Arvika in Sweden, Oslo in Norway and Amsterdam in the Netherland, for a performance under the guidance of world-class conductors such as the Sweden conductors Sixten Ehrling and Glenn Mossop. The JM World Orchestra is a historical program of Jeunesses Musicales International and it still represents a significant part of the history of the organisation, as well as the first international youth orchestra of its kind.

Conductor

Sixten Ehrling (1918–2005) was a prominent Swedish conductor who achieved an international career in both opera and symphonic music. He served as music director of the Royal Swedish Opera and later held major posts abroad, including principal conductor of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Ehrling was widely respected for his clear technique, disciplined interpretations, and particularly strong performances of Scandinavian composers such as Jean Sibelius, as well as the core German-Austrian repertoire.

Glenn Mossop is a Swedish conductor associated with orchestral performance and musical direction, known for his involvement in concert preparation and collaboration with ensembles in performance settings. His work has focused on repertoire development, rehearsal leadership, and supporting orchestral projects and artistic initiatives within the ensembles he has worked with.
