In 1952 JM World Orchestra brought together outstanding young musicians in Geneva under the direction of Samuel Baud-Bovy for a performance during the Congress at Victoria Hall. The JM World Orchestra is a historical program of Jeunesses Musicales International and it still represents a significant part of the history of the organisation, as well as the first international youth orchestra of its kind.

Conductor

Samuel Baud-Bovy (1906 – 1986) was a Swiss musician, ethnomusicologist, and college professor. Baud-Bovy was director of the Geneva Conservatory of Music and a professor of Greek at the University of Geneva. After World War II he made several music collecting tours in Crete. He was a member of the International Folk Music Council from 1948, and served on the group's executive council.
