1992

Girona, Barcelona, Santander (Spain) Sherbrooke, Montreal, Lennoxville (Canada)

In 1992 JM World Orchestra brought together outstanding young musicians in Girona, Barcelona and Santander in Spain and in Sherbrooke, Montreal and Lennoxville in Canada, for a performance under the guidance of world-class conductors such as the Mexican conductor Eduardo Mata and the Spanish conductor Francesc Llongueres. The JM World Orchestra is a historical program of Jeunesses Musicales International and it still represents a significant part of the history of the organisation, as well as the first international youth orchestra of its kind.

Conductor

Eduardo Mata (1942–1995) was an internationally acclaimed Mexican conductor who became music director of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra (1977–1993), leading it to major artistic growth through recordings, tours, and expanded repertoire. He was widely respected for his energetic conducting style, strong structural control, and commitment to both the standard symphonic canon and Latin American composers, helping to promote Mexican and contemporary music on the international stage.

Francesc Llongueres is a Spanish conductor, educator and composer associated with orchestral performance and musical leadership, known for his work in concert preparation, collaboration with ensembles, and participation in many pedagogical projects. His professional activity has focused on repertoire development, rehearsal direction, and contributing to pedagogical works across classical music settings.
