1961
Milan, Italy
In 1961 JM World Orchestra brought together outstanding young musicians in Milan, Italy, under the guidance of world-class conductors such as Carlo Zecchi for a full concert programme followed by an international tour. The JM World Orchestra is a historical program of Jeunesses Musicales International and it still represents a significant part of the history of the organisation, as well as the first international youth orchestra of its kind.

Conductor

Carlo Zecchi (1903–1984) was an Italian pianist who enjoyed an international career before turning increasingly to conducting, becoming admired for his refined style and deep musical sensitivity. A distinguished interpreter of composers such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Franz Schubert, he worked with leading European orchestras and was also active as a teacher, influencing younger musicians through his emphasis on clarity, balance, and stylistic elegance.
