Orford, Montreal, Copenhagen (Canada)

In 1970 JM World Orchestra brought together outstanding young musicians in Orfor, Montreal and Copenhagen, in Canada, for a performance under the guidance of world-class conductors such as Erich Leinsdorf and Mariaus Constant. The JM World Orchestra is a historical program of Jeunesses Musicales International and it still represents a significant part of the history of the organisation, as well as the first international youth orchestra of its kind.

Conductor

Erich Leinsdorf (1912–1993) was an Austrian-American conductor renowned for his clarity and authority, notably serving as music director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra from 1962 to 1969. He later led major orchestras internationally, where he was especially admired for his performances of German, Austrian, and late-Romantic repertoire.

Marius Constant (1925–2004) was a French composer and conductor closely associated with contemporary music, known for founding and directing the ensemble Ensemble Ars Nova, and for his influential work promoting modern repertoire while also composing orchestral, chamber, and film music.
