Mont Orford, Montreal in Quebec (Canada)
In 1976 JM World Orchestra brought together outstanding young musicians in Orford and Montreal in Quebec, Canada, for a performance under the Canadian conductor Pierre Hetu. The JM World Orchestra is a historical program of Jeunesses Musicales International and it still represents a significant part of the history of the organisation, as well as the first international youth orchestra of its kind.
Sessions were held in Orford (Canada), with 98 musicians from 23 countries.
Performances took place in the framework of the 1976 Olympic Games.

Conductor

Pierre Hétu (1932–1998) was a Canadian conductor and pianist who played an important role in the musical life of Québec. He served as music director of the Orchestre symphonique de Québec from 1979 to 1989, helping strengthen the orchestra’s artistic profile through concerts, recordings, and international tours. Known for his clear musical direction and strong sense of orchestral balance, Hétu also worked widely as a guest conductor in North America and Europe and contributed to the promotion of Canadian repertoire.
