In 1985 JM World Orchestra brought together outstanding young musicians in Warsaw, Krakow and Wroclaw in Poland, for a performance under the guidance of world-class conductors such as the Swiss conductor Michel Tabachnik and the Canadian conductor Derek Bate, as well as the Japanese conductor Hiroyuki Iwaki assisted by the Korean conductor Naohura Totsuka.

Michel Tabachnik, Derek Bate

Michel Tabachnik (born November 10, 1942, in Geneva) is a renowned Swiss conductor, composer, and educator. A protégé of Igor Markevitch and Pierre Boulez, he is acclaimed for conducting premieres of contemporary music, particularly Xenakis, and has led prestigious orchestras including the Brussels Philharmonic (Conductor Emeritus) and Ensemble Intercontemporain.
Derek Bate was a conductor involved in orchestral and ensemble performance, known for his work in concert preparation, repertoire development, and musical direction. He collaborated with instrumentalists and ensembles in performance settings, contributing to interpretative planning and artistic coordination. His professional activity focused on supporting orchestral projects and maintaining high performance standards within the groups he worked with.
