Natanya, Jerusalem, Cesarea, Tel Aviv (Israel)

In 1973 JM World Orchestra brought together outstanding young musicians in Natanya, Jerusalem, Cesarea and Tel Aviv, in Israel, for a performance under the direction of the world-renowned director Zubin Mehta and the Israeli conductor Shalom Ronly-Riklis. The JM World Orchestra is a historical program of Jeunesses Musicales International and it still represents a significant part of the history of the organisation, as well as the first international youth orchestra of its kind.

Conductor

Zubin Mehta (born 1936) is a renowned Indian-born conductor celebrated for his powerful interpretations of major symphonic works. He held major leadership roles, notably as Music Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic (1962–1978), the New York Philharmonic (1978–1992), and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (1965–2019), becoming a titan of classical music.

Shalom Ronly-Riklis (born 1942) is an Israeli conductor known for his wide-ranging international career and for his work with major orchestras in Europe and Israel. He has served as music director of several ensembles and is particularly recognized for his interpretations of both the classical repertoire and works by Israeli composers, contributing significantly to the promotion of Israeli music abroad.
