In 1994 JM World Orchestra brought together outstanding young musicians in Lennoxville, Lachine, Belleville, Parry Sound, Joliette and Sherbrooke in Canada, for a performance under the guidance of the Chinese conductor En Shao. The JM World Orchestra is a historical program of Jeunesses Musicales International and it still represents a significant part of the history of the organisation, as well as the first international youth orchestra of its kind.

Conductor

En Shao (born 1952) is an internationally active Chinese conductor known for his work in both symphonic and operatic repertoire across Europe, Asia, and North America. He has held prominent leadership positions, including music director of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, where he contributed to artistic development, recordings, and international touring.

En Shao is recognized for his broad repertoire, which ranges from classical and romantic works to contemporary music, and for his efforts to promote cultural exchange between Chinese and Western musical traditions. His conducting is noted for its clarity, disciplined preparation, and balanced orchestral sound
