In 1972 JM World Orchestra brought together outstanding young musicians in Weikersheim, Munich and Augsburg, in Germany, for a performance under the Polish director Witold Rowiski. The JM World Orchestra is a historical program of Jeunesses Musicales International and it still represents a significant part of the history of the organisation, as well as the first international youth orchestra of its kind.

Conductor

Witold Rowicki (1914–1989) was a prominent Polish conductor who played a major role in the development of Poland’s postwar orchestral life. He served as longtime music director of the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, leading it on numerous international tours and promoting the music of Polish composers, particularly Karol Szymanowski and Witold Lutosławski.
